Fresh off a season that saw one California NBA franchise reach new heights and three others land among the bottom four seeds in the league’s Western Conference, the quartet is back for more.
Between Sacramento, which reached the playoffs for the first time since 2006, and the fifth-seeded L.A. Clippers, sixth-seeded Golden State and the eighth-seeded L.A. Lakers, there was no shortage of storylines surrounding the four Golden State NBA teams.
While none of the four made it past the Western Conference Finals, there’s no denying California is full of pro basketball stars. Ranging from the legend built by LeBron James to future Hall of Famers like Steph Curry of the Warriors and Kawhi Leonard of the Clippers — that talent is spread north to south across the I-5 corridor. With NBA 2K24 now out, BetCalifornia.com took a break from California sports betting and utilized 2Kratings.com to see which teams have the most star power, with players of 85-plus overall.
85+ Overall Ratings in NBA 2K24
Although there are no California betting apps, national operators list Boston and Denver as the NBA title favorites this season at +475. The Lakers are the top California team at +1000.
Warriors Still California’s NBA 2K24 Standard
The leading team in California, star-wise, is still the Warriors, with three players rated 85 or above (Curry, Chris Paul and Klay Thompson). The Clippers and Lakers have two players apiece on this year’s list, in Leonard and George for the Clippers and James and Anthony Davis for the Lakers. Up the road in the state capital, the Kings also have two players rated 85 or above — De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
There is no BetMGM California, but nationally BetMGM Sportsbook has Golden State right behind the Lakers in NBA title futures +1400. The Clippers are listed at +2000 to win their first title in 2024, coming in at ninth overall, while the Kings are listed at +5000, ranking in a tie for 13th New Orleans and New York.
