Whether fair or foul, few metrics have been used to determine a player’s on-field impact quite like winning a championship.
Among the crowd of NFL veterans that have yet to do so are L.A. Chargers linebacker Khalil Mack and San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams, despite the pair posting an approximate value (via ProFootballReference.com) of 217 during their 21 collective years in the league.
BetCalifornia.com took a break from covering California sports betting and utilized ProFootballReference.com to look at the best players over 30 years old currently active in the NFL that have never won a Super Bowl. By utilizing their Hall of Fame monitor, we were able to determine the most deserving players to win this season.
Best Over 30 NFL Players Without SB Win
National operators list Kansas City as the favorite to repeat as champs this season. The Chiefs are +600, while Philadelphia is +750. The 49ers Super Bowl odds are the third-best in the NFL at +900.
Where Mack, Williams Rank Leaguewide
Few NFL players (with or without a ring) can boast about having the kind of career Mack has during his nine-year run in the league with the Chicago Bears, Oakland Raiders and Chargers. The former first round pick out of Buffalo has racked up 84.5 sacks, 385 solo tackles and 25 forced fumbles in 134 NFL games, landing him on the NFL All-Pro list five times (four times as a first-team members and once on the second team).
Although there is no Caesars Sportsbook California, nationally the operator lists Mack with +15000 odds to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Up Interstate-5 in the Bay Area, 35-year-old veteran tackle Trent Williams has done even more to build a legacy for himself — with an approximate value of 112 (to Mack’s 105) and 10 Pro Bowl appearances between 2012 and 2022. Williams has been named to the NFL’s All-Pro list three times, making it as a first-team member in 2021 and 2022 and on the second team in 2015.
As far as Hall of Fame scores are concerned, Mack ranks just ahead of Williams — with the former notching a score of 89.85 (ranking second overall among 30-plus players, behind wideout Julio Jones at 107.77), while Williams ranks ninth at 61.45. Both play on teams that have a solid shot at capturing a Super Bowl title this season, with the Chargers Super Bowl odds ranking in a tie for ninth alongside Detroit at +2200.
