Miller Moss Transfer Portal Destinations: Where Will USC QB Go?

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

Technically, college football’s transfer portal does not open until next Monday. Still, with most teams having completed their regular seasons, some high-profile players have made their intentions known in hopes of finding a new home for next fall.

One of those is Miller Moss. Moss announced via social media that he would be leaving Southern Cal, which just wrapped up a 6-6 season. The Trojans will be headed to a bowl somewhere later this month, but they’ll do it without the 6-2 junior who started the first nine games of the season.

Moss has already been connected with several schools at potential landing spots. On3’s Pete Nakos reported Moss would likely look to go to Auburn, Iowa, Louisville and Michigan. In this NIL era, all four of those schools would have the connections to land Moss and make him the centerpiece of their team next season.

In anticipation of Moss’ announcement, BetCalifornia - home to all movement across the California sports betting scene - has set the following odds for the signal caller’s next school. Even if sports betting were legal in California, you would not be able to place a wager on any of these odds, as they are for entertainment purposes only.

Auburn Leads The Board For Moss' Services

We see it as a close race now between Auburn, Louisville and Michigan. We’ll punt on Iowa’s chances for now, but there are several other schools that could still make a play for the quarterback who threw for a Big Ten-best 283.9 yards per game this season.

Auburn is historically one of the top programs in the SEC, but it’s been a few years since the Tigers have been nationally significant. They’ve posted four straight losing seasons, and at 5-7, coach Hugh Freeze’s team will not get a bowl bid this year.

The Tigers have not been ranked at any time during the past three seasons, and the 2020 COVID season was the last time the team was ranked in the top 10 at any point. Could Moss help the Tigers stand out in the overcrowded SEC?

Perhaps. In nine games against Power Five schools, their eight SEC games and a non-conference game versus California, the Tigers only topped 24 points twice, and those accounted for their only wins in those nine games.
