What States Are Most Interested In Ideas For Valentine’s Day?

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

There’s no denying that the country’s most populous state has more than its fair share of romantic destinations. California boasts moody locales such as Carmel By The Sea and Laguna Beach, to more remote inland outposts that take your breath away, such as Yosemite and Kings Canyon national parks.

Between the litany of romantic locations that dot the state from the Mexican border in the south to the Oregon line in the north and the state’s deep connection with the film and TV industry, there’s no denying that California has a deep connection with the most romantic day of the year – Valentine’s Day.

One thing that seems constant, regardless of geography, is that several states take Valentine’s Day more seriously than others – just like legal sports wagering. More than 30 states have it, but legal California sportsbooks are a way off.

We wondered how states ranked for national internet search interest for Valentine’s Day in 2024 and the list below is the result. BetCalifornia.com dug into Google Trends to discover and rank the top 10 states looking for the phrase “Valentine’s Day ideas” as a topic, then we ranked the states by Google search interest compared to other topics. California Among Leaders In Valentine’s Day Interest

Virginia may be for lovers, but there’s no denying that the Golden State takes Cupid’s arrow seriously. California posted the fourth highest search interest score any state when it came to Valentine’s Day topics, at 33 compared to other topics. It seems love is alive and well in a state where California online casinos don’t exist.

Nationally, Illinois residents had a search interest score (compared to other topics) of 100 for Valentine’s Day topics, smashing past No. 2 Massachusetts (83 search interest score), as well as Ohio (68). Texas and New York ranked in a tie with California for fourth place.

Rounding out the national top 10 when it came to Valentine’s Day search interest were New Jersey, with a search interest score of 27, followed by Pennsylvania (25), North Carolina (24) and Florida (22). When it comes to the draw of Cupid’s arrow, it seems that few states can match the passion of the Golden State.
