No matter how you celebrate, the holiday season is a time for coming together with friends and family. That often includes indulging in a few festive libations. What better way to embrace the holiday spirit than with a cup of festive cheer?
With that in mind, BetCalifornia.com took a quick hiatus from covering California sports betting to discover what holiday drinks are sipped on the most in the Golden State. Using Google Trends, we found the top five holiday drinks based on search interest score. The search was done between September 19, 2024- December 18, 2024.
Whether you’re seeking a cozy treat to enjoy by the fire or a festive beverage to share with loved ones, BetCalifornia.com has you covered for seasonal drink inspiration.
Rank | Drink | Search Interest Scote |
1 | Peppermint Mocha | 27 |
2 | Eggnog | 26 |
3 | Hot Toddy | 6 |
4 | Wassail | 5 |
5 | Mulled Wine | 4 |
Battling for interest in California, Peppermint Mocha beat out Eggnog by just one point. However, as one of the most anticipated drink drops of coffee shops around the country, it comes as no surprise that Californians love a good ole Peppermint Mocha. Spiked or kid-friendly, the delicious mix of rich chocolate paired with the seasonal peppermint flare is sure to set anyone in the holiday spirit.
Eggnog is a beloved and traditional beverage across North America, despite some Americans debating the polarizing beverage due to the thick texture, raw eggs, and high caloric total. It’s clear that Californians still love the distinctive creamy and spice flavor of the drink.
While Peppermint Mocha and Eggnog go head-to-head for interest, the next three beverages had a significant drop in search volume but are still evidently well-liked. Following the two top drinks are Hot Toddy, Wassail, and Mulled Wine. These three warming winter beverages are typically all heated, have delicious notes of spice, and are often sweetened to perfection.
As the winter breeze continues cooling down California, residents are choosing to whip up a batch, or two, of heated concoctions aimed to warm themselves and loved ones. Out of the top five most searched holiday drinks, four are traditionally served hot, with Eggnog being the outlier.
With the remaining weeks of this festive month busy with holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, there are plenty of opportunities for you to either be the ever-prepared host or favorite guest by having any of these top five holiday drinks ready to go.
So, grab your favorite mug, whip up one of these delicious drinks, and toast to a wonderful holiday season!
