Which Thanksgiving Side Is California’s Favorite?
A quick glance at the virtual tea leaves known as search interest scores tells us that stuffing is California’s go-to Thanksgiving side dish, though the breakdown by metropolitan area in the state revealed a lot more.
In total, stuffing scored the most responses (41%) in places like the Bay Area region of San Francisco-Oakland-San José and in the Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto MSA, while Los Angeles (38%) and San Diego (36%) all scored lower.
Each of the four major metros in the state had mac & cheese as their second choice and mashed potatoes third overall, with percentages ranging from 20% to 24% for the former and 15% to 18% for the latter.
Still, both holiday staples fell well short of the statewide popularity that stuffing enjoyed in California during the period in question, answering once and for all which Thanksgiving side dish rules them all in the Golden State.
